Well Sigma's Astronomy Weekend was a huge success in spite of the weather. No observing, we had 40mph winds, gusting to 60mph which made the rocket launching really exciting. We had 53 on the Friday night for an evening of talks on the night sky, how to get started in astronomy, comet making and Dark Sky Scotland Project Officer, Dave Chalton with the StarLab. That was followed by another couple of short talks on The HST and astronomy websites. In spite of earlier powercuts, Saturday afternoon was a roaring success, as was the wind. 83 people attended for an afternoon of rocket launching, constellation making, umbrella project, sun dial making, StarLab and comet making. The Saturday evening sessions was quieter with just 24 attending for a series of short talks buy Sigma members. A really good weekend, a real team effort from club members with Dave and the StarLab providing the icing on the cake for us, thank you for making the long journey up to see us and make sure you come back soon.
