Dear oh dear, Neary a year and not a post. Changed days. Surely there must be someone actually looking at the night sky in Scotland....? The Perseids were nice, next up are the Orionids. Cheers, Bill.

Be on watch on the evening of Saturday 8th October. There is potentially a storm outburst of the Draconids. Unfortunately the moon is near full so keep it to your back and face north. The radiant is quite high at the predicted time of 20.00UT+/- 30mins. regards, Bill.

Hello, Well there doesm't seem to be much in the way of activity here! All very quiet.... For some advance info, there is Comet Garrard coming later in the year. Probably not naked eye but should be bright enough to see in binoculars or a small telescope. What is interesting is that it's orbit will put in in the northern sky for several months so it'll be intersting to watch it move amongst the constellations. Keep watching the skies! Cheers, Bill.

Hi, Don't forget to keep a look out for the Leonid shower through the week. There should be some discernable activity now with the peak coming on the night of the 17/18. The moon will spoil things a bit but it's always worth a look just in case. Regards, Bill.

Hello All, The forecast for this weekend is looking not too bad. A few observers are getting together this weekend at the high site overlooking Loch Doon. Comet Hartley is in perfect position and looking good. If the weather holds this should be the perfect time to catch this comet. Meet at 9pm onwards. Cheers, Bill.

After an inauspicious start, last Saturday was an even more terrific night. The high cirrus melted away and the sky cleared.
Just up the road were another group from the Ayrshire society and one their members had brought along a 16in Dobsonian. Everyone was treated to great views of numerous galaxies and other deep sky lovelies.
Great fun.
The next official get together will be in September as usual. Hopefully see you then.
BUT don't forget if you've got anything else going on then post it HERE.
cheers, Bill.

Hi Horst, Good to hear from you.
Unfortunately a couple of the regulars have called off due to other things which is a pity as it looks like with the pressure building it might be another good night.
Regarding co-ords, if you pass the turning to the lochside and stay on the 713 and proceed to 55 deg 16 min 10.19 sec N, 4d 20m 5.84s W there is a turning to the left. Take this and go past the cottages. Stick to the left side of the fork in the road at the second house and follow road for another few hundred meters to the lay-by at 55d 15m 47.39s N, 4d 19m 16.69s W, that should get you there to within a few meters!
I have something to attend myself but I will be there at 10pm local.
Hopefully catch up with you there. cheers, Bill.

Mmmm, Not really sure how to respond to that.
Perhaps it doesn't but I feel that such gatherings are always good fun. The people who make the effort to come along always seem to have a good laugh.
If the point you are trying to make is that there are other observing groups elsewhere then why don't you post about that. There are plenty of people who would love to hear what's going on. It might encourage others to post about their own experiences.
However I don't think my comments were in any way unreasonable. Bill.
